2011 Sitka Art Invitational

November 4, 5 & 6

at the World Forestry Center in Portland

With the nights getting colder, it’s the time to get together with friends and celebrate artistry and imagination. Join us for dinner on November 4th! Bask in the warmth of the blacksmith’s forge, as artisans pound out sushi knives and act as a dramatic entrance to a spectacular feast. Listen to Intel’s Genevieve Bell discuss art and technology. The table is set for a banquet of brilliant ideas, fine food and art. If you can’t make the dinner be sure to check out the exhibit on Saturday and Sunday. Artwork created onstage Friday night by collaborative artists will be on display all weekend.

MJ Anderson and Frank Boyden, Sitka Center co-founder, will sculpt 400 pounds of clay. Violinist Peggie Mojé will blend music and color in playful banter with painter William Park. Kim Stafford will pluck an emotional chord through his poems and stories. Intel’s Cultural Anthropologist, Genevieve Bell, will talk about the intersection of technology and creativity. The entire evening will unfold in Miller Hall surrounded by 400 pieces of diverse artwork while you sip wine by Torii Mor and dine on black cod prepared by Simpatica. Tickets are $175/person.
